What is the fooriders site all about?

If you've stumbled onto this site inadvertently through a link, you might be wondering what da heck is this flowery biking site is and why does it exist? ...No? Ok, well - I'll tell the short story anyways for those who are more inquisitive of their surroundings.

Various incarnations of fooriders.com have been around since circa 2000 and it was initially created to help a similarly-minded group of riders post about rides and such. The reason for a new site at that time was that the content could be centralized and and "controlled" in as far as the exposure that was visibile to the public (for various reasons).

As the site grew though, it became more of a general site with the new purpose of sharing all types of bike riding experiences with riders of all levels, primarily through photos and videos. Since photos and videos take up a huge amount of bandwidth and disk space, a lot of work has been done through the years to try and facilitate for the needs of the user. That is - to allow site visitors to be able to upload as well as download practically any-sized media. At one time a user uploaded an uncompressed video that was over a gig in size!!! Anyways, that's the reason why this site exists now. It's a place to share your photos and videos with others... without being bombarded with ads or spyware.

For archival purposes, the old site is now back online and running concurrently to this one. The URL to the old forums is:

The old site will be kept running indefinitely so that there is no loss of data, but please don't post to it as I'd like to have everybody migrate to this newer software.

A little Total Recall for ya. Anyways, yeah... This is just another facelift on the Foo site. I think we've had about 6 or 7 makeovers since 2000. Change is always inevitable and hopefully in the end it's for the better.
