On Sunday, Lacey and I drove up to Big Bear for the B.B. Shoot out #2. Which is also #8, for the Cal. State series.
We were told that the Jr. Beginer Long course was going to be pretty much the same as the first race. Around 12.5 miles, with lots of fire road climbs, and decending Fall Line.
I rode ahead to get a couple of pics of the little girl climbing. Man, she was going strong!

She would pass all of these guys in the next hundred yards!

I went ahead to the finishing section of the downhill, which started on the Pirates trail, and continued down Fall Line. These are really fun sections to ride. Lacey was moving really well comming down Fall Line. She says that riding the trails with the guys on the Path rides has really made the DH's on the XC courses easier.

I followed her down the rest of the way, always about 2 or 3 riders back, and she was REALLY riding GREAT!
When I met up with her after the finish, I noticed she was shaking a little bit about the shoulders. She was also pretty giddy, and was acting a bit excited. I told her she was shaking, and asked her if she was ok? She said yeah she was ok, showed me how her legs would shake when she put her weight on them, and the told me about rolling a rock drop at the top, that others were stopping to walk. She said that there was another woman just ahead of her that was riding kind of slow. The woman pulled over and stopped, she thought so she could ride on by. Well, she said when she rode by, it ended up that the reason the woman stopped was because of the drop. She said she just got back behind her seat and rolled it! After she made it, she said this feeling came over her, that, if she could do that, she could pretty much do anything!!
Isn't adrenalin a GREAT thing!!
She ended up taking 1st place, 20 minutes ahead of the girl she raced.

Two more races to go for the Cal State series. She riding strong, and having FUN!! What more could a Dad ask for?
Thanks to the guy's at The Path, HOSS Tech Gear, and The Warrior's Society, for all the support!!
