    Re: Oaks Action - 03/01/2007

Some notes from last night’s ride:

    -         Shitty really liked his new coil Totem.  He had the firm springs installed right off the bat.  He thought his Fox 36 Van was good, but the Totem smoked it.

    -         Gerry was rocking Auk’s former 66 Light fork and said that the extra inch goes a long way.  It replaced his Fox 36 Talas.

    -         Gerrit’s new nickname is HC202.  Plus he has the lung capacity of an 80 year old.  (It won’t do you folks any good because Gerrit is still Gerrit.)

    -         The lip on the table top jump is in serious disrepair.

    -         I rocked the flats last night.  I had to walk a little more while climbing up Zips.  The flats feel better at speed and in the turns, but I will have to get used to them on jumps and drops.  It feels like the pedals are going to fall away from under my feet when going off a drop.

    Hi there,

New to the forums. Always like your ride posts on the Socal mtbreview forum.

Did you guys try that double that is next to those jumps on the top or is it too sketch? Also, I see that guy has what looks like a Romic on his Heckler. I have an '05 Heckler with a Swinger Air 4way...has he said how he likes that Romic on there?

Here's some advice I found useful with regards to keeping my feet on while using flats:

    Thanks Streethawk.

I have seen the builder hit the jump and it required less speed than when you hit the table top jump.  (The builder is an expert dirt jumper.)

I think Gerry (white Bullit) likes his shock.  That is a new frame and the shock is from his old Bullit.  (May it rest in peace.)

Thanks Eric for the tips.  I need to get back up to the easy drop @ Oaks get some practice in.  (It was getting cold when we were there last night.)

Maaan, that Totem looks massive on Shitty's Nomad.  I'm sure it'll be night and day compared to the 36 he had on there.

Whatever, Buckley has lost all credibility with me!!! (Frame is probably strapped to the back of a burro...dead from exposure somewhere in the Cascade Mountain Range.)

Hey D, you're right there is a huge differance between the two forks. That big ol burly Totem is so buttery smooth compared to the Van. I have only had a chance to ride it twice but I love it so far. It seems to be a good match to the ORANGE PEELER.

    shitty

Chicken fried steak, country gravy and bourbon straight, aint it great, its good livin!

Cool! That jump does look very nice. Ridin' out there tomorrow so I think i'll finally try it.

Always heard good things about Romics but didn't know how well they do on climbs? Maybe I'll give one a whirl.

This site rocks too. Thanks for the reply!
